What a helpful book for women of all ages and stages in life! Jansen answers all of your questions and more in a very fun and easy-to-read style: she de-bunks myths, and knows more about her subject than most family doctors. 3. 5 out of 5

Sex Yourself is an excellent example of a sex positive book written in an accessible, fun, and very informative way. A great book for beginners and experts alike. This book has a ton of practical tips and trips to improve your solo sex life, along with partnered sex. It provides details about anatomy, sex toys, techniques, and lube all of which is very helpful. The one thing I did not enjoy about this book was the layout, as I am especially not found of column style in books. That being said, that should not deter you from reading this excellent book. Your sex life will thank you.

  7. 5 out of 5

I’m probably not the typical reader (being male), but am in the process of developing a product for women and couples. In my pursuit for ideas and information I attended Carlyle’s seminar at the Guelph Sexuality Conference, and thought I also better read her book “Sex Yourself”.

Wow, this book is refreshingly open and honest in discussing solo-sex and its related issues. I can’t begin to cover all the ideas and inspiration radiating from these pages.

I have never been envious of women, and the difficult time you can experience in our culture. But when it comes to the options for solo-sex that Carlyle has outlined – well now I’m absolutely jealous!

  8. 4 out of 5

This is a fun, easy to read book on a taboo subject/sensitive matter. The way this book is written, it is as if the author is sitting right beside you and teaching all her knowledge about this subject matter. Could have gone more in depth about the Eroscillator (as this toy was not covered) in the book, probably because the pricepoint of this partiicular product is high. Could have gone more indepth on SSRI’s and becoming orgasmic if the option to switch is not possible. Great book!
