We have hit warp speed here at FPA headquarters and we couldn’t be happier.  As I mentioned in my INAUGRAL POST, there are tons of new opportunities for filmmakers both new and old to be involved in this years ceremony.

In other exciting news, the gorgeous Ms. April Flores has just confirmed her attendance at this year’s event!!

April exploded onto the scene this year performing in films such as Nostalgia and 2009 FPA Honorable Mention Voluptuous Biker Babes.

In honor of this occasion, I thought I would share a quick story:

If you read this blog, you probably already have a bit of an idea about how awesome CoCo La Creme is.  In addition to being a burlesque SUPER STAR, she works at Good For Her and facilitates several of our workshops.  You can catch her this Thursday, December 10 to learn all about the wonderful world of Burlesque.  Later in December, she’ll be teaching Giving Great Head and in the new year, don’t forget to check her out doling out some sexy schooling on Flirtation 101.

1)       Can you tell me a bit about why you are passionate about the workshop topics that you teach?

The topics that I teach are very close to my heart.  For me it’s all about helping people to gain the confidence they need to live their lives to the fullest.  I know what it feels like to be held back by insecurities and I know that people need solid tools to help them deal with those issues.  If that information can be presented in a fun and relaxed way by someone who’s been there themselves then it means so much more.  That desire to help people get to a new place in their lives or see things a little differently is what keeps me passionate.

2)     What draws you to work in sexual education and health?

I find the topic human sexuality infinitely fascinating.  You can study it all your life and still never know all there is to know.  Sexuality is an integral part of our lives and yet it is often a subject that is confusing and upsetting for many people.  A good sexual education can do wonders for a person’s confidence, happiness and health.  It’s a lot more important than we think.  That’s part of what draws me to do this work:  the need to share crucial information that really does affect people’s lives.

3)     Do you have a favourite moment from teaching a specific workshop?

I think my favourite moment when teaching my burlesque class is always when the students try twirling tassles (pasties) for the first time.  They are always so surprised and delighted to find that this is something that they can do.  It’s wonderful to see their renewed  confidence and utter joy.

4)       Do you have a website? A blog? A place where I can learn more about you?

I’m currently working on a website which should go live by the new year.  It will be www.cocolacreme.com.  Currently I blog for the Good For Her website.  You can check out my advice column, Ask CoCo, at www.goodforher.com/blog/.

5)       What’s something interesting about your career that I might not know?

Well, other than being a Good For Her workshop facilitator in various topics for the last five years I’ve also been a burlesque dancer with Toronto’s longest running troupe Skin Tight Outta Sight for the last ten years.  What a great time that’s been!  I’m also a total porn geek and have been involved in the Good For Her Feminist Porn Awards from day one.  Each year I moderate a panel of porn directors, asking them questions about why they make the work they do and their thouhts on the industry.  This event is always one of the highlights of my year.
