One person’s art is another person’s porn, and one person’s porn is another person’s art.  ArtCore will look at art influenced porn and porn influenced art with video screenings and performances that laugh in the face of boundaries between the erotic and the artistic.

Featuring clips from both new directors and new work from Feminist Porn Award winning directors, this evening promises you’ll never look at fruit, hot dogs, Barbie dolls or fully clothed men in quite the same way again.

Art House Sluts- follows the rise and sexual downfall of artsy slut Maddie Superstar, with an impressive performance art scene starring Jiz Lee and Syd Blakovich along the way. Directed by Madison Young, winner of Feminist Porn Awards for Hottest Kink Film 2008 Bondage Boob Tube and 2009 for Perversions of Lesbian Lust, as well as Indie Porn Pioneer 2009.

Headshot - A different take on Andy Warhol’s “Blowjob”.  How explicit does something have to be to be called porn?  What is too explicit to be called art? Directed by Jennifer Lyon Bell, winner of an Honourable Mention Feminist Porn Award for Matinee in 2009.

+ Performances and installations:

Dylan Ryan investigates the interplay of fantasy life and public space that is present in the creation of porn, through dance and more. Dylan is also the 2009 Feminist Porn Award winner for “Heartthrob of the Year”.

Frances Mahon’s “Donut Spectacular” is an intimate, interactive performance exploring sexiness, awkwardness, greed, and sugar.

Ab Horrence will set your loins aflame with his intimate and interactive bed time story.

+ raffles galore, art surprises, and more!

ArtCore is a fundraiser for the Fifth Annual Feminist Porn Awards, which will be held on Thursday, April 8 and Friday April 9 2010.

New short film from Erika Lust!

Filed under: Porn, random goodness — Tags: , — Alison Lee @ 5:13 pm

How much do we love Erika Lust? Not only is she the smart cookie behind Five Hot Stories for Her and Barcelona Sex Project, she’s now working on a new flick that is sure to be another stunner.  Check out this short (that will be a part of a larger project) called “Handcuffs”

TOMORROW! Nostalgia Screening!

Filed under: Porn, feminist porn awards — Tags: — Alison Lee @ 1:01 pm

One of Good For Her’s very favourite Feminist Porn Award winners for 2009 was Courtney Trouble’s Roulette. This movie proves that it is possible to show hot queer sex with couples with searing chemistry and sizzling diversity.  Trouble is back at it, and Good For Her is excited to present the Canadian launch party for her second feature, Nostalgia.

Come watch as Trouble and Pepper are at home fooling around and watching porn, only to find that all of their favorite classic titles have been queered. Join them as they watch the mythical creatures, fresh faced angels, and tattooed misfits of the underground fuck, suck, and hold hands all the way to hell… or is this heaven? Inspired by classic porn that defined the genre, NoFauxxx.Com creator Courtney Trouble has twisted the past into the future of alternative queer porn. Step behind the queer door for a sneak peek of one of 2009’s new classics.

This evening will feature a screening of a scene from Nostalgia, saucy burlesque from Ceci Myplaymate, the hunks of Boylesque TO, a queer punk soundtrack to makeout to after, and RAFFLES GALORE! Including:
- 3 year-long memberships to NoFauxxx.com! (Trouble’s award winning website!)
- Copies of “Nostalgia” and “Roulette
- Sexy Swag from Good For Her!
All money raised benefits The 2010 Feminist Porn Awards!

Feminist Porn Hits the Mainstream

via Jezebel (and the babes at Hotmoviesforher.com), I just found out that HBO is planning a series starring Diane Keaton as a feminist who attmepts to invigorate feminists and the movement by starting a dirty magazine.  My first reaction was excited - Feminist porn hits the mainstream!  Something I’ve been dreaming about since I started working at Good For Her (and long before, too).

But now I’m worried.  How is this going to work?  How is porn for women going to be depicted?  Is it going to be tongue in cheek, Porn for Women -styled (courtesy of the humour-fuelled Cambridge Women’s Pornography Cooperative), or full of Candida-Tristan-Shine-kinda goodness?  How are other issues around porn and feminism, like sex worker’s rights, sound labour practices, and positive and diverse representations of women’s sexuality going to be handled?

This news is also especially interesting hot on the heels of Violet Blue’s story that made the front page of CNN, “Are More Women OK with Watching Porn?“  It seems that more women are willing to admit that they like porn as much as guys do, and that we are all looking for quality adult entertainment that doesn’t insult us along the way.  With coverage like this, it’s only a matter of time that the mainstream media looks at ways to grab a hold of these porn-lovin’ ladies as a primetime audience, too.

I hope that the writers and producers of this new show are talking to people involved in the business, because I really don’t want to groan my way through this show.  There is no way an HBO comedy series is going to be particularly true to life, but it would be nice to see some realistic representations of what it’s like for women to work in the adult industry, and how the business can be re-molded through a solid dose of feminism.

And you know that no matter what, I’ll be watching - this is too juicy to miss.
